Over the past years, starting from scratch, Chinese ethnic minority movies have grown mature and gained brilliant achievements in the history of Chinese contemporary movies. The contents presented by minorities movies is the most important of Chinese modern culture. And it is also the essential theme of movies creating . This essay gives a brief survey of the Chinese ethnic minority movies and particularly focuses on the Tibetan movies. In the first part, the author divides the development process of Chinese ethnic minority movies into three periods, namely pre-Cultural Revolution, post- Cultural Revolution and post-1990's, and analyzes the characteristics of each stage. In the second part, taking some typical Tibetan movies of different stage as examples, such as The Serf, the Red River Valley and the Cocoxili, the author discusses the demonstrations of ethnic consciousness , folkloristic event of Han nationality and other ethnic minorities in film and television narration in the : context of globalization. Based on this, the author attempts to throw light on the particular and anti-traditional techniques of narration. At last, the author discusses the future of Chinese ethnic minority movies on the basis of the Chinese national movies in its broadest sense.
