Folk View On Fuxi And Nvwa

Fuxi and Nvwa are myth characters of ancient time. As human ancestor, they were always sacrificed by people. Tianshui is the place where Fuxi and Nvwa were born. There are strong Fuxi and Nvwa's belief among people. Based on a great deal of field work datum, this article is to study Fuxi and Nvwa's belief in Tianshui on a folk's view.From folk's view, Fuxi and Nvwa's belief in Tianshui is mainly embodied in three aspects. The first is temple fair, which is the direct embodiment of Fuxi and Nvwa's belief. Second is oral transmitted folklore, which is the basic that Fuxi and Nvwa's belief existed. It also manifests Fuxi and Nvwa's God nature. Third are the belief in daily life and correlative folklore, which are the prolongation of temple fair and oral transmitted folklore. They are also the important part in Fuxi and Nvwa's belief.Through these three aspects, I think that Fuxi and Nvwa's belief in Tianshui is mainly the revere to them. It has a character of ancestor adoration. They look Fuxi and Nvwa as sage more than a god.
