This paper aims to search for effective ways to improve Chinese college students'oral English based on modern language learning and teaching theories. Starting from the fact that many Chinese college students, especially non-English majors, cannot speak English well after many years'English study, the author designed an experiment that lasted over one month with a group of twelve students from the Liangxin College of China Jiliang University. The author believes non-English majors need large amounts of"comprehensible input"in order to improve their spoken English. Other important means for oral English beginners include reading aloud, imitation and reciting, etc. A discussion of some effective English learning and teaching methods adopted in the experiment and an analysis of the results of the experiment constitute the essential parts of this paper.
