| The thesis aims to give a general review of the literary ideology of Luo Binwang, who is regarded as one of the most preeminent Four Poets of the Early Tang Dynasty. The first section of this thesis is Introduction (Chapter 1), consisting of two subsections. The first part introduces the brief information on Luo Binwang's curriculum vitae, works and related evaluations by previous researchers. The other part reviews the outline of the previous investigations on Luo Binwang's literary ideology since 1900.The second section is analysis and discussion on the literary ideology of Luo Binwang, including Chapter 2~5. The chapter 2 addresses the literary essence of Luo Binwangm, which core concept is"Shiyanzhi". Poet Luo considered that"Shiyanzhi"was comprehensive: not only the function of narratology and rationalism in the poem which emphasizes the feudal ethics and political civilization, but also another important function of"Shiyuanqing", i. e. express one's emotion. In Chapter 3, Luo Binwang's thoughts on literary emotion are discussed, and the principal opinion is"elimination of grief by works". This concept is a deposit of Luo Binwang's thorough life and a fruit of apperception of his inditing practice. Comparing with the related literary thoughts, Luo Binwang not only inherited the previous literators'thoughts but also enriched them. Indeed, this theoretics broke through the frame of doxology from Zhenguan Period, promoted express one's emotion more freely. In Chapter 4, the concept on the initiation of literary works, i.e."induction between matter and emotion", is analyzed. Induction between matter and emotion is the basis of initiation of poem, also the development of the traditional theory of"induction from matter". Luo Binwang's"induction between matter and emotion"theory is the supplement of"induction from matter"following Liu Xie and Xiao Yi, which is more detailed, concrete and profound. Chapter 5 shows the attitude of Luo Binwang on the acceptance of literature. He thought that the fulfillment of expression one's emotion depends on the acceptance and resonance by audiences. Chapter 6 introduces Luo Binwang's appreciation to the literature in previous dynasties. He affirmed the success in content of the literature during Han, Wei and Western Jin Dynasties, also the form of the literature during Liuchao Dynasty. His profound understanding of content and form, made a firm basis for Chen Ziang's innovation in literature and the perfect harmonic unity of content and form in the prosperous Tang Dynasty.The last section is Conclusion. Firstly, the author declares her own knowledge to the concept of literary ideology. Then, the skeleton of Luo Binwang's literary ideology is listed. At last, the deficiency of this thesis and future work are also indicated. |
