Interlanguage refers to the systematic knowledge of language, which is independent of both the learner's L1 system and L2 system that he is trying to learn. The interlanguage system, as its name suggests, is neither L1 nor L2 but something in between. An interlanguage is an emerging linguistic system that has been developed by a learner of a second language who has not become folly proficient yet but is only approximating the target language: preserving some features of their first language in speaking or writing the target language and creating innovations. Therefore, research on interlanguage is helpful in identifying errors that L2 learners committed in their writings. The research aims to make a detailed description of the interlanguage errors made by Vo-tech college students of Business English major in the business letters and analyze the reasons from the aspect of language transfer and cultural transfer, thus give suggestions on teaching business English writing.
