The Study Of The Officials' Retiring Life About Tang Dynasty

How to treat these old officers not only related to the stability of the basic unit, but also can performance the mercy of government and drive all officials too. So it was paid a lot of attention by the leaders of Tang Dynasty. The government offered these officials excellent treatment to make sure they can have a good old life. The official system had been studied by many scholars, but few of them analyzed the life when they retired. Studying the life of these officials can provide a new angle of view to know the politics and culture of the Tang Dynasty. This article uses the theory of leisure,sociology,literature and esthetics, obtaining from the leisure life, analyzing various style of leisure life in that special dynasty and the effects to society.This article is divided into six parts:The introduction introduces the concept of official system, the research situation of domestic and foreign, the data source of this article, the research mentality and the question to be answered.The first part introduces the condition of Tang Dynasty, the changing of the official system, then elaborates the treatment of these officials.The second part introduces the society condition of those officials'leisure life through induces the changing of their psychology, then study their life.The third part introduces the varied and colorful life styles of those officials. They got so much pleasure from them then realized the value of their life in some aspect.The forth part introduces the characteristic of their leisure life from two sides, and the effects to society.The last part is conclusion, it conclude all the paper, and compare it with the life of Wei-Jin-Southern-Northern Dynasty time, then draw the conclusion that the retired officials'life is different from the Wei-Jin-Southern-Northern Dynasty time's. They began the atmosphere of practicing moral life in valuing Confucianist ethics to the Literary intelligentsias after Song Dynasty. It improved the degree of Spirit of the age about retiring life.
