| Death is the boundary of Albert Camus' thought. Within and out of this boundary, he first constructed the concept of "absurd" and then the thought of "revolt". Through the dimension of philosophy of death, we will comprehend the background or atmosphere of "absurd", the evolvement of Camus' thought and connotation of "revolt". During the 20th century's prevailing of existentialism, Camus' thought was undoubtedly a kind of prudent and ethical reconsideration and rebelling of nihilism. The dissertation consists of four chapters.The foreword educes the meaning of death in philosophical thought, the particularity of Camus' philosophy of death and the dissertation's academic meaning. Through the analysis of the source of Camus' thought and his living trail in the first chapter, we will understand the reflection of death in his thought and the reason of his focusing on this theme. The second chapter mainly demonstrates his central notion—relationship between absurd and death together with their tensional influence. By means of apprehending Camus' several writings, the third chapter settles the procedure of Camus' realization and solution towards absurd. The fourth chapter expatiates on Camus' answer against absurd-revolt, and its central value and practical representation. In the end, we will find the conclusion: he scales rational absurd with death, and cherishing temporal life and the value of life are his persistent credo. |
