Philosophy returning to the lifeworld, not only shows the fundamental change in Philosophy's theory mode, more importantly, it represents the basic spirit of modern philosophy. Every modern philosopher, no matter whether he clearly used the concept of"lifeworld", as long as he is modern (temperament of thought instead of the time sense is pointed to here), as long as he desires to express a feeling of times, then his philosophy is bound to return to the lifeworld with conscious or unconscious. In various types of lifeworld theory, Habermas' lifeworld theory is the most unique. As is known to all, Habermas is the most renowned philosopher and sociologist in contemporary Germany, and is also one of the most influential thinkers in contemporary West. He fuses numerous school's thought, and makes a study on the lifeworld under the broad background of globalization and world history, in a sense, he does a certain comprehensive work on the entire lifeworld theory, for this, he has the deep insights, and to be the master of lifeworld theory. However, from the current status and level of study at home and abroad, lifeworld theory is the great background for Habermas' huge theoretical system, but it has been obscured for a long time, and hasn't been fully understood and comprehended, particularly its inner quintessence of thought——"criticism"and"modernity"hasn't been deeply analysed. What makes people regret more, Habermas' lifeworld theory is full of the flavor of times and reality, but few people promote it from the theoretical field to the real social life practice.In thesis'opinion, Habermas' context of reconstructing modernity and lifeworld just matches the current modernization process of China, for this, giving prominence to his lifeworld theory, not only helps us grasp lifeworld's different theory types and value judgements, but also helps us find a modernization development path, which in line with the spirit of modernity culture and China's national conditions. According to this, the thesis makes a deep study on Habermas' lifeworld theory, which on the basis of existing research results and with the methods of text read, comparison study and chart analysis, and actively promotes the theoretical research to the real social life practice, and puts Habermas' reasonable scheme of reconstructing modernity and lifeworld into China's modernization cause. These are thesis'research assumption and innovative ideas.The thesis is divided into three chapters: ChapterⅠ, the road of philosophy returning to the lifeworld. This chapter reveals the root causes and deep motivations for philosophy returning to the lifeworld, combs the development veins of lifeworld theory, and clarifies the theory origins of Habermas' lifeworld. ChapterⅡ, the self-building of Habermas' lifeworld theory. In the mutual interpretation of communicative action and lifeworld, this chapter reveals the deep sense of Habermas' lifeworld theory through the analysis on lifeworld's connotation, structure and function, and discusses the question about lifeworld's colonization and rationalization on the basis of it. ChapterⅢ, the limits and value of Habermas' lifeworld theory. This chapter focuses on the evaluation about Habermas' lifeworld theory, and reveals its theoretical limits in Marxism Philosophy: the lack of real foundation for the lifeworld is a"language Utopia"; dialectical comprehensive theory method is the product of compromise; the scheme of reconstructing lifeworld is the pure moral ideals. At the same time, also expounds its practical value in China's modernization cause, that is revealed to us: propagate the spirit of modernity culture; construct China's civil society and public sphere; achieve the balanced development between technique sense and value sense.Lifeworld, on its substance, is the hometown of life which Habermas construct for mankind in various dissimilative reality, a cultural world containing life's value and sense. Although this theory is only a radical express of idealistic feeling, and only has a"utopia power", for we readers, for China's modernization cause, it still has an important inspiration and reference.Through Habermas' difficult theory surface, the author not only realize his unique thought charm, but also feel his personal charm which flashing in the depths of his soul.It is Philosopher's history mission feeling of"know it not but for it", it is ordinary citizen's social responsibility feeling which shoulder with conscious, and these humanism spiritual connotation is exactly required in China.
