This thesis aims to have a general idea of Zhang Ailing's novels from the angel of daily narrations as a whole and to cast light on the uniqueness on her modern narrations.The thesis divides into five parts. In Introduction it sorts out Zhang's study in a simple way and intends to master the main idea of Zhang's. So that it can establish the academic background for self-study and show the intention that the thesis aims to excavate.In Part I , it mainly discusses the formation of Zhang's daily narrations in the 1940s. It considers that the living environment, family life and experience and all the other elements result in the above choice. However ,this also makes her get an independent subject consciousness and reflects the spiritual pursuit of the intellectuals' after the May 4^th movement of 1919 from the angel of subjects' freedom and independence.In Part II, it mainly reveals that Zhang pays much attention to women conditions who withdraw and stay at home, different from those who go along with the trend of the time, the gloomy living world, the pain that women lack of the subject consciousness in love and marriage, the life degradation trend that results from the original needs. So that it reveals the universality of "nonsense tragedies" and deeply shows the hardship and anxiety about the spiritual crisis that are caused by traditional civilization.In PartIII, Comparing Zhang's artistic manifestation with "New Feeling lization school", it points out that Both the two express all kinds of "feelings" of daily life, but the other hand, showing feelings and psychology, Zhang forms the feeling-to-object and object-to-feeling proofs. The key that the effects have lies to that Zhang tries to describe things in a changing way and the aesthetic conceptions that she advocates. About this point her manifestions approach more to the traditional feeling and setting happily blended.In conclusion, it simply summarises the thesis and expresses the deathly stillness and depression, but it seldom sets a route that is to look for and prove the nature of life for characters, so in this way, it is hardly likely to see the possibility of development and advancement.
