| Reverse culture shock,is the process of re-adjusting to the home culture upon return.Multiple studies have indicated that travelers report higher levels of distress during reentry than during the initial cultural adaptation to another country.But in China,study in this field is just at beginning.How the reverse culture shock problems troubled China's young returnees is unclear.This research is based on social cognition theory combined quality and quantity methods.Reverse cultural shock scale and Cultural identity scale is adapted for Chinese context.And self-construal scale is used as an addition.Questionnaires are administrated on 91 young Chinese returnees.And four individual interviews were made as supplement.Conclusions of the study are:1)More than 40%young Chinese returnees suffered reverse culture shock.And high reverse culture shock is related with low satisfaction upon return.2)The returnees have a lower home cultural identification than non-returnees.And they also have a much more independent self construal than non-returnees.3)The identification change and psychological preparation can predict reverse culture shock. |
