After the People's Republic of China came into existence, the working class in shanghai stepped on the historical stage in deed. The thesis is to open out the multitudinous possibility of suppositions of the socialistic city by the means of analyzing the metropolitan space in the fifties and sixties, which was characterized by the working new states. The space in the working states was organized highly to practice the society-organizing project, which combined the manufacture and life aiming at the large-scale industry production. The changing in shanghai would realize the significant transition from consumption to production as soon as possible. But from the nineties, the description of working new states in the narrate of shanghai history has been 'absent' because of the popular narrate. It connected the colonial times of shanghai to the modern times on the basis of the homology of market economy and consumption culture. We also can conclude that, there was a divisive internal structure in the reminiscence of the fifties and sixties. The city space produced alienation and tension all the same, though it was predominated by the new power during that time.
