Semiotic Analysis On Fashion Of English Aristocracy In 18th And 19th Century

The evolution of English Aristocracy is an important content of British social transformation.As a sign,fashion is one of the important consumables for English Aristocracy.With the change of fashion,it reflected that English Aristocracy changed in lifestyle,value orientation and social thoughts.Fashion's changing from irrationally to rationally was also an important embodiment during the process of British moderonization.This article quotes theory of Semeiology,adopts research method of social history, and constructs aristocrats'fashion with Semiology.Through analysis of the costume's style and structure,we educe that aristocrats'fashion has a function of communicating,exhibiting,impressing,ruling,etc.Thereby,English Aristocracy did't go to pot,instead,they intercommunicated with other stratums,influenced their lifestyle,value orientation and social thoughts,thus,they lead the whole British society.
