The Cultural Meaning Of Lesbian Iscourse In Chinese-Language Movies

The culture of homosexuality has special influence to the development of literature and arts. Homosexuality, as a special art subject, has been employed not only in foreign and China's literature works, but also in the art of movies. The discourse of homosexuality appeared later in Chinese movies, than it did in western movies. Chinese homosexual movies did not come into existence until 1970s, but have been developing rapidly, both in quantity and the display of arts in Mandarin movies of the whole country, attaining lots of awards on international movie festivals and coming into certain scale. The booming of Feminist Movement, Homosexuality Movement and Queer Movement, together with the turning up of the new vision of blurry sex when a new century is coming, has obviously influenced the development of lesbian discourse in Mandarin movies, and made it a worthwhile cultural phenomenon to study.This paper consists of three parts——identity acknowledgement, cultural metaphor, and body writing, penetrates into the intrinsic content of the lesbian discourse in Chinese-Language movies. The first part, with the elaboration of the lesbian discourse expression, intends to display the living condition of lesbians, and to construct the identity and sex consciousness. The second part, discusses about the vast cultural metaphor of lesbian discourse, which has the function of reflecting mankind's emotions and living state. The third part studies the predicament that lesbian writings have to face. Lesbian discourse, which was expressed in literature works make females sink into the single-sex world or become the lonely actors only to be seen, and which was employed in movies, may be adapted into pornography elements and business trickery in order to achieve business profit.The cultural phenomenon of lesbian discourse in Mandarin movies, not only has great significance to academic construction in the study of movies as well as in lesbian studies, but also is very helpful to the promotion of females'position and the healthy development of discourse between male and female, through the revealing of cultural intrinsic content and the deep search of cultural critic. In addition, it also can provide reference and consultation for people to comprehend and create more works with unique values.
