The man who serve the corvee of guard the frontier were called garrison in The Former Han Dynasty. In order to consolidate the northwest of newly occupancy,the government of The Formet Han Dynasty carried over the policy that confiscate the garrison to guard the frontier.Because most of the garrisions were roughscuff,the literature seldom recorded about them.For that,the research refered to that is few later on.The Qin and Han period slips which was founded in recent years offered a lot of information about station troops to us.The article which bases on available achievements and the slips will try to quest for the garrison and their lives. The paper is mainly composed of three parts.The first part of this paper discusses who are the garrisons and the system to supervise the garrisons in The Former Han Dynasty.So in this part I will comprehensively discuss where the garrisons come from and how did the government supervise the garrisons in The Former Han Dynasty.The second part and the third part is the emphases of the paper. The second part focuses on the military activities the garrisons did everyday.The military activities are composed of sentry, signal fire, cultivate land and other fatigues. In this part I will introduce how did the garrisons deal with the activities and how did the government examine that.The third part tries to discuss the social life of the garrisons which inculde material life ,cultural life,the medical care system and the life of their relations.In order to ensure the garrisons to guard the frontier securely,the government of the FormerHan Dynasty must have taken some measures.So I will narrate the measures that the government of the Former Han Dynasty taken.
