Since Immigration and Naturalization Act and Voting Rights Act of 1965 have implemented, Asian Americans have equal rights to participate in political activities. With the growth of Asian Americans' population, the rise of their social economical status, the impulse of Asian Americans' political organization and the awakening of their consciousness to participate in politics, they have achieved remarkable achievement in political participation in recent years.First, this dissertation reviews the political participation activities by Asian immigrants before 1965 and points out the main purpose for political participation in this era is striving for civil rights, and the main approach is through non-election political participation.Second, political participation by Asian Americans takes on new characteristics after 1965, the main performances are : awareness of political participation has enhanced, the base of political participation has expanded; the members of political participation have multiplied, the achievement of political participation is remarkable; the hierarchy of political participation is broad, the form of political participation is diversification; the ancestors inheritance rate of Asian Americans announce running for public service candidacy has strengthened. Simultaneously, Asian Americans' political participation is the important performance that they integrate and identify with the American society, which has had the far-reaching effect to the Asian American society, the American democracy development and the U.S foreign policy.Finally, this dissertation points out that Asian Americans also have some problems in political participation as a result of some factors limitation, and at the same time puts forward several views about how to enhance the political participation by Asian Americans in the future.
