The Studies On Zhangbei Interrogative Sentence

Zhangbei local dialect belongs to Zhang-Hu area of Jin dialects. Since it is a transition zone from Jin dialect to the Mandarin, most of its features embody the characteristics of the transitions. Based on what Zhangbei interrogative sentence for study, carried out a targeted portrayals, mainly by using the method of comparison, and by comparing with Putonghua , as well as several other areas of the same dialect of Jin dialect. Through the comparison between Zhangbei dialect and other dialects, as well as dialect and Mandarin, this thesis found some characteristics of Zhangbei dialect. In addition, some related questions and the analysis are put forward, and accordingly the ideas are suggested on the questions.This thesis is divided into three parts.Part I: Introduction. First this thesis introduced geographical history and profiles of Zhangbei County, and introduced attribution and characteristics of Zhangbei dialect, including sound system, the lexical and grammatical features. And then it introduced the reasons for choosing the subject, the state of the related questions to the subject, the study method, the significance of the study, and the frames of the dissertation. Finally, this thesis introduced several contents which are related to the main body of the text.Part II: The first chapter: the basic situation of Zhangbei interrogative sentence. It divided into four sections.Section 1: The basic types of Zhangbei interrogative sentence. The main targets of the survey are the north-east and north dialect of Zhangbei. This thesis described the basic types of Zhangbei interrogative sentence. It used the classification methods of Huang Borong(1957), and the focus of the study are four categories: reference question, alternative question, contradictory question and yes-no question. This thesis carried out the basic description of the various patterns, while the use of Putonghua as a reference, focusing on the characteristics of own dialects Questions.Section 2: Semantic content and pragmatic factors inspection of Zhangbei interrogative sentence. This section is divided into two parts: the first part is focused on the semantic contents features of Zhangbei interrogative sentence. Among them, semantic contents of reference question, contradictory question and alternative question are consistent with putonghua. It analyzed the semantic contents of different situations on "VP-Neg" type, because of different negative words and components intermediary. The second part is the inspection of the pragmatic factors, which will be pragmatic factors on the one hand "doubtful" as a focus of the study. This thesis also analyzed the "VO not VO" type, which is the changing form of yes-no question, as well as its variant conditions for using.Section 3: The study of yes-no question and related issues. In this section this thesis analyzed three related issues. First of all, it gave a reference to "VO-Neg-VO" and the changing form "VO-Neg" in the use of different parts of Zhangbei County, and pointed out that "VO-Neg-V" and "V-Neg-VO" exist at the same time, which was particularly prevalent in the southern dialect, as well as universally used, but these sentences had its unique conditions of usage, while comparing with "VO-Neg-VO" and " VO-Neg ".Secondly, it put "VP-Neg" Questions as the foucus. According to the predecessors'studies and corpus, the thesis considered "VP-Neg" sentences of Zhangbei questions has two sources : "VP不" (the grammatical meaning is that the action has already happened ) "and"有O不?".These forms are a legacy of a classic Chinese.Finally, it analyzed the case of Zhangbei interrogative sentence:"K-VP" type questions, i.e., "dares" Questions marked word. The use of this type is uneven distribution in the northern region and only 50 years of age or older will use this type. From the gradual disappearance of this phenomenon, it found some transitional dialect features of Zhangbei dialect Questions.Section 4: Interrogative mood words. In this section, the thesis divided interrogative mood words of Zhangbei dialect into two parts, one is used in the interrogative sentence, another is only used in the interrogative sentence. It analyzed the usages and conditions of each word.Part III: The second chapter: the comparison between Questions of Zhangbei dialect and Questions of Mandarin, as well as the other dialects of Jin dialect.In this chapter, the thesis compared Zhangbei interrogative sentence with Putonghua, as well as Wanquan,Huai'an dialect, which also belong to Zhang-Hu dialect of Jin dialects and also made the comparison between Zhangbei interrogative sentence and Huhehaote interrogative sentence, which belongs to Jin dialect of Inner Mongolia. The thesis performed from three aspects: interrogative pronouns, question mood particles, interrogative sentence type. By comparison, it revealed the characteristics of interrogative sentences as well as the dialect features of transitional districts from the Jin dialect to the Mandarin language.Conclusion: It summarized the main contents of the text and some views to several problems,and also proposed a few problems which is still waiting for solving.
