Prisoners of war issue is an important part of the study of war system. So far World War II is the largest war in human history, but also the rate of the captured is the highest. An official list shows that the number of prisoners is over one million and there are about 20 million people were secretly imprisoned because of nationality, race, religion or Labor, and so on. At present,according to the issue, Scholars have gained many achivements in research work, most of them focus on describing the experience of prisoners or revealing the evil of the detention contury, few study the compensation for the loss of the surviving prisoners after the war.Taking the study of Japan abusing prisoners during World War II as the title, basing on a large number of historical documents and a large number of research results, its systematic Sorting ,deep interpretation and careful consideration.The thesis is divided into four parts:Part I: Briefly review the issue of prisoners of war and its corresponding regulations in history. This chapter is divided into three stages according to historical periods, Its first stage is from ancient times to the 17th century, during this period, the prisoners of war were the winner's private property they can be arbitrarily killed or saled. The second period is from the end of 17th century to World War II , some humane ideas about treating prisoners appears and introducted a series of legislation.The third time is from the end of World War II to now , during this period existed laws and regulations were further improved,a number of surpervision agencies were established and the number of signatory country for international laws and regulations increased abruptly. Part II: Reveal the living conditions of prisoners captured by the Japanese during World War II. This chapter facouses on study of two different groups of prisoners-- from allies countries and prisoners from China,by describing the prisoners' experience of being transfered , prison life and slavery state , reveals Japan's cruel treatment to prisoners of war.Part III: This chapter exposits the impact of the prisoner's experience on prisoner after war . The Japan's post-war attitude on crime of aggression .Tt also talks about the issue of compensation for war victims.Part IV: This part explains the reason for the abuse of prisoners of war and the lessons of history, It appeals to make up for the loss of surviving prisoners of World War II, and to further improve the relevant international laws and regulations, viewing of establishing and perfecting the supervision mechanism of war to establish a healthy, peaceful international community.
