The Phonological Study On Gaofeng Tuhua In Dong'an County Of Hunan Province

Xiang dialects occupies very important status in studying in Chinese, but the research of Xiang dialects is relatively weak and a large amount of dialect areas waits to be studied. Gaofeng Town of Dong'an County which lies in the south of Hunan lacks the systematic research materials all the time. Considering that and on the basis of investigating in the locality, we mainly describe the phonetic system of Gaofeng Tuhua and compare the phonetic phonology in the two districts of Huaqiao Tuhua of Dong'an, Guanhua of Dong'an, which fill the study gap of Gaofeng dialect.The full thesis falls into five parts altogether.The introduction shows us the geography, the history, the population, the condition of language uses of Gaofeng Town briefly. It also introduces the present studies on the Gaofeng dialect and the emphasis and the main purpose of our research.The first chapter describes the system of initial consonant, compound vowel and tone of Gaofeng Tuhua.The second chapter analyses the features of phonetic system and reading tone change of Gaofeng Tuhua.The third chapter analyses the literary reading and colloquial reading, the layers of literary reading and colloquial reading.The fourth chapter is the syllabary of Gaofeng dialect. The fifth chapter uses the comparative and analytical methods to sketch the differences and connections between Gaofeng Tuhua ,Huaqiao Tuhua and Dong'an Guanhua, and argue that Gaofeng Tuhua belongs to Xiang dialect.
