Zhang Ailing and Zhang Xin, two brilliant writers, born in different eras and different cities, yet have many similarities in their writings: both of them focus their works on the city life and their sights in the emotional circumstance of Urban Women. Bu towing to different eras and different ways of narration, their works show different styles. This thesis put them in a logical frame, comparing and exploring the emotional troubles of the Urban Women in Zhang Ailing and Zhang Xin's works from feminine sights. The following is the main content:It an alysed the different ways of narration in Zhang Ailing and Zhang Xin's works when relating the loving stories of females. One of them is the looker-on, just like the "witch" watched the desolating emotional suffers of the Urban women in the alternation of the new and old times, this has a deep and aloof meaning. The other is a "common sister", she is so warm-hearted when consoling those pretty Urban women who have emotional troubles, she has a pragmatically-inclined commonality spirit, socially experienced and tolerant. This thesis also concluded the characteristics of the love of those Urban women in Zhang Ailing and Zhang Xin's works, and compared their love and marriage. In Zhang Ailing and Zhang Xin's works, there are few perfect love and marriage. This deconstructed love in a certain way. Those Urban women are all double besieged in money and love. What makes them be different is that: the Urban women in Zhang Ailing 's works are attached to man economically, so they wear golden chains for themselves unconsciously. They build a solid siege for themselves unconsciously with the criteria in male society. What they are searching for is just a job as "wife", this kind of marriage is based on economical attachment, it will break undoubtedly in the future. Those Urban women couldn't break through the chains between their old painful marriage and orectic marriage. The Urban women in Zhang Xin's works are economically independent, they pursue better love and marriage, but under the pressure of this materialized world, love brings what? Love becomes the luxury harder to pursue than materials. They pursue, maze, struggle, yet still couldn't break through the siege, and losing their love at the same time.In the emotional troubles of women, Zhang Ailing and Zhang Xin's works both embody loose for man and restrictions for woman in some degree. Both Zhang Ailing and Zhang Xin exhibit us the state of alienation from the man-centred world consciously and unconsciously. After exiling "him", they are in the dilemmasZhang Ailing's works reflect the decay of the traditional image of the "father". While the men in Zhang Xin's works are only the foil of those pretty Urban women. The love tragedies of the Urban women under Zhang Ailing's pen are all just a "bleaking gesture", they are birds died in the golden screen. The Urban women under Zhang Xin's pen tend to search warm "sister love" when they are disappointed to their men and suffered so much in their love and marriage. The thesis discusses the feelings of the Urban women in the course of pursuing independence based on live in the last fifty years. It analyses the defects and misunderstandings of those Urban women. It also searches for the road of independence and liberation for the modern Urban women.
