Wen-hsin Tiao-lung and The New Criticism are two important stages that do not allow ignoring, and the literature disciplinarian they dredged up together is great subject for Comparative Poetics research. However, the aim for Comparative Poetics research is Common Poetics, so the purpose of this assignment is work together to build for Common Poetics through case study of Comparative Poetics. The New Criticism is a special Pharisaism Literary theory. It focuses on text modal, which know from West traditional text. But this betrayal of traditional text reminds people pay more attention to the Literariness. On the other hand, it is special because it also knows from Pharisaism text which for only art (such as Symbolism, Formalism in Russia and so on). The literature concepts in Wen-hsin Tiao-lung are more abundant than The New Criticism, but as for Literariness, their attitudes have some commons indeed. Attentively, this assignment does not emphasize the corresponding of glossaries one by one (such as Tension, Irony, Paradox, Texture, etc), because such comparison is easy to get in embarrassed place which stretch the meaning. The author takes notice of that no matter what The New Criticism's terms are complex, if we generally conclude them in criticism standard and criticism method and undertake the Literariness research in this category, the space and freedom are more wider. At this premise, this assignment enumerates some parts or talks about slightly to discuss. As for criticism standard, this assignment enumerates"Ambiguity"and"Latent","Exterior authority"and"To imitate appearance and get the heart", Contents and form are organic to unify, and so on; as for criticism method, it emphasizes to discuss the relationship between Wen-hsin Tiao-lung'the thesis of"six consideration"and The New Criticism text's Close reading, and through analyzing point out the thesis of"six consideration"is Chinese Close reading method. From above analysis, we can see the common heart of the poetry in the comparison between East and West. It is an important tache for validating the rationality of Comparative Poetics after the theory comparison. So this assignment cites Mr. Huang's analysis for Mr. Bai's"Ashes of the dead", and the representatives of The New Criticism RenéWelleck and Cleanth Brooks'understanding for William Shakespeare's poetics to prove the maneuverability. At the meantime, we also need to note the heterogeneity in East and West Literary theory. There are still some different ideas between Wen-hsin Tiao-lung and The New Criticism. For example, the status and functions of writer in literature, the society function and literary criticism standard, etc., they will be discussed in different degree. In addition, this assignment also teases some related problems in the Chinese antiquity literary theory, which help us apprehend the similarities and differences between Wen-hsin Tiao-lung and The New Criticism. That, what's the reason for this difference? Generally speaking, the close reason is the"mold"of the East and West culture's difference. Since Plato, the West critics are good at analysis, so it is clear to compartmentalize the literary factors; however, although Confucius and Taoism have some strange concepts, but both of them stress integrating, so Chinese antiquity litterateurs also regard literary factors as organic integrator. In a word, only grasping the differences between the East and West, we are able to research the Comparative Poetics objectively and have a definite object in view; doing one thing and neglecting another will get more kicks that halfpence.
