Under today' s background of economic globalization, it marks great significance to maintain the characteristics of regional nations and non-governmental traditional culture. How to keep traditional handicraft stable in the modern society is a problem for designers to consider. Under the guidance of my teacher, I spent nearly 2 years' time on the marketing research of the traditional handicraft. Linking of the reality, I have selected Chengdu Bamboo over porcelain as the research object so as to manifest big through small parts, start from the unique to the general, and try to reach a higher level for theory understanding of traditional culture development through innovation in Bamboo over porcelain. And according to some of my innovation experience, I'm trying to find ways to combine traditional handicraft and modern design through practice.This composition started from the origin, development and culture background of the Bamboo over porcelain, which aimed to grasp its cultural inner meaning and spiritual function. And then it appreciated the amazing handicraft and cultural spirit of Bamboo over porcelain by the aspects of its producing craftwork, attraction of its material and features of its design style. The understanding of the intangible cultural heritage gave a further understanding of Bamboo over porcelain. Intangible cultural heritage is a lively one which put much emphasizing on the sustainability especially the sustainability in craftsmanship, skill and knowledge. This gave prominence to man' s part, creativity and major status in society so as to make handicraft adapt to the modern society and keep developing the modernization. Through innovation, Bamboo over porcelain could be blessed with new function and new form, and then at last by combining the hard research work and bitter and happy creativity, the composition explained the designing ideation and how to finish the final product.The precise research of the Bamboo over porcelain has enriched the apperceive and understanding of the traditional culture of the nation, broadened my view of taste, and I also analyzed the existing conflicts of Bamboo over porcelain in the modern society and discussed the road of its development.Under the background of modern industrialization, Bamboo over porcelain is facing big challenges. How to protect it and pass it along, and is it necessary to protect its development, these are problems which deserve our deep consideration.
