In the late Ming Dynasty, the philologist—Yinglin Hu wrote Si Bu Zheng E which was the first monograph on distinguishing false. It included he theories summary of the distinguishing false achievements in the history, also settled the foundation of distinguishing false, his monograph made an independent discipline.From the point of the constructing the frame of distinguishing false,this article researched on Si Bu Zheng E specially, involving the reasons of writing the book, the thoughts of distinguishing false, the types of false books, the methods of distinguishing false, and discussing the merits and mistakes on these bases, declaring the status of milestone in the history of distinguishing false at last.In the first part, this article analysis the reasons and the aim of writing the book. By introducing the life of Yinglin Hu, academia of the times, this part will explain that Yinglin Hu's profound knowledge and large collect books. In that time, "xin xue" and "classicism" were quite popular, however, he proposed the textual criticism in philology, it satisfied the need of books' reorganization .At the same time, along with the distinguishing false practice development after hundreds and thousands of years ,the summary of the distinguishing false theories emergence itself is necessicy.In the second part, the distinguishing false thoughts of seeking the truth of Yinglin Hu will be explained. In the history, there were many scholars researching on Si Bu Zheng E, all of them neglected to explain the distinguishing false thoughts. Behaves are instructed by the thoughts, the reason why Yinglin Hu could surmount predecessors was that he had the right distinguishing false thoughts. The writer considered that the distinguishing false thoughts of seeking the truth produced the right attitude which protected the work of distinguishing false going on successfully, which also enhanced Yinglin Hu's understandings on the false books. Especially on the historic values of the false books, he got a clear statement which is also of the distinguishing value today. This part will elaborate emphatically in a chapter. In the third part, the types of false books and the methods of distinguishing false will be concluded. Yinglin Hu divided the false books from several angels, which could divide into three aspects—"twenty-One types of false books", "the analysis of identifying the false book"and "the proportion of the false books in the Sibu division". Yinglin Hu's distinguishing false methods were academic, divided into eight which were called "eight methods of distinguishing false". The scholars from the old times to praise the methods emphatically and the methods have been elaborated by scholars widely, which are also the elites of Si Bu Zheng E. Now, the writer will re-summary the methods on the bases of researching.In the fourth part, the appraisal on Si Bu Zheng E will be made. This book has a very important status in Chinese history of distinguishing false. It concluded the theories of distinguishing false and the achievements were also developed by the afterward scholars. However, the contents of the book had some disadvantage. The appraisal will be made on the bases of the analysis and summary on Si Bu Zheng E, in order to have a comprehensive and right understanding on it.
