Echo On The Strings-Performance Practice Analysis On The Nothern Style Er-hu Music

In the recent works of Er-hu music, there has been an adaptation of folk music. These music are filled with their original tastes due to their regional origins of the folk tunes. In order to show its regional essence, special performance practice was developed. To know and practice the special kind of regional performance techniques is the basic element of studying such stylistic music. Even more importantly, it is the necessary path for a Er-hu player to reach a higher level of Er-hu performance.This thesis takes the folk influenced Er-hu music as a center piece, explores into details with the specific performance techniques developed from the music's stylistic originality and its unique pitches; as well as analyzing the different origins of folk tunes, thus makes a conclusion and a catalogue of the various styles of Er-hu music influenced by regional folk tunes.According to the styles, interpretations, and acoustic effects, the author has divided the thesis into three chapters, "folk music influence", "dialect influence" and "imitation on other instruments."...
