Amongst the contemporary violoncello music works, there have been many new notation symbols therein , such symbols are the marks and explanations of new type of playing which is made by the composers to reflect the features of contemporary music. Not only did these unconventional types of playing increase novel sound effects, simultaneously, they bring in new skills of playing. To understand and learn all kinds of new type of play is not only the most important premise and the fundamental path for learning contemporary violoncello music works, but also a necessary method for contemporary violoncello player to further improve and complete the playing skills and the technique of expression of violoncello. Therefore, It is of great and farreaching significance in doing so.In this topic, the author mainly focuses on some principal and representative new playing types as the object of study, which appears in contemporary violoncello music works, from home and abroad. In specifical exposition, this article is originated in notation symbols of all types of playing form, firstly the explanation of such symbols, secondly representing the new sound effect and skill generated during performance of violoncello, lastly but not least, taking relevant works into account, a deep analysis is to be given in respect of specific performance.Due to the huge amount of the playing forms which are needed to be enumerated in this article, the author concluded and classified such playing forms into 3 major categories based on the difference of respective functions and features, and will be discoursed in the 3 following chapters, separately as:"The realization of the special pitches of the contemporary music ""The playing method of the enrichment of musical tone color and sounds""The Imitative playing of non—bowed instruments".
