Although with 14 years age-spacing, Mozart and Beethoven shares comm on grounds: they are both composers of classical period, belonging to the same generation and Vienna school. They own a close inheritance relationship and leave a profound effect on European music.Taking Mozart's sonata(k. 457) and Beethoven's sonata(op. 13) as center, by comparison and research on concrete works, this paper focus on the similarities and differences of them on the way of musical structure, musical style and performance features. This paper consists of four chapters: the first chapter gives a brief introduction on the purpose, meaning, coverage, method, pre-situation of the research; the second chapter talks about the analysis and comparison of musical form: a speculation on musical form of Mozart' s and Beethoven' s sonata respectively and a comparison on them; the third chapter involves with the comparison on performance features which also includes the separate analysis and altogether comparison; the last chapter falls on the conclusion: a further study is carried out on the perceptual and rational cognition which could provide a theoretical foundation for the future teaching practice and research of piano music.
