Eight Banners, unique to the Qing Dynasty, is a social group by a number of nationalities. The long-term common life and similar social status between the members of the Eight Banners form a national consciousness, the main body of which is Manchu ethnic consciousness. Man-Han culture of the Qing Dynasty showed the characteristics of mutual exchanges. Manchu in their efforts to maintain and strengthen their national consciousness at the same time, positive absorbed Han culture, and also exported Man cultre to Han culture. The cultural exchange promoted the appearance of Bannermen's novel creation and criticism. As the Eight Banners literati at a relatively independent political and economic status of ideological and cultural environment, the objective conditions and subjective awareness of Banners literati and Han literati have clear distinction between. Bannermen's novels reflect the contents of Bannermen's social life and spirit, the presentation of the Man-Han cultural integration status, and show Bannermen's unique aesthetic pursuit, national consciousness, sense of urgency, and social responsibility. Bannermen writers also made a lot of positive exploration and innovation in fictional ideology and art. Bannermen's novles written in Han language are the valuable results of Man-Han culture exchange. Because of the special historical and cultural connotation, they have a unique status in the literary history of the Chinese nation. This dissertation is divided into two major parts. The first part focus on the historical and cultural backgrounds of Bannermen's novels, generally comments on Bannermen's novels creation and criticism. The second part analyses five Bannermen's novels, particularly on the cultural characteristics and cultural exchange between Man-Han.
