| Whether oriental or western, painting as a kind of visual arts can not eventually separate from the support of its theoretical foundation. Throughout the East and the West for the theoretical study of color and exploration, we can find the change: color theory from scratch, from a philosophical, religious theology to science. Based on the history of theory of color in western and China, this paper analyzed the formation and development of characteristics of watercolor painting. Having comparison the techniques, concepts, aesthetic and theory, we know that there many contacts between watercolor painting and color theory. In addition, the author also analyzed the color from the physical optics, visual color psychology and physiology starting. The aim is to sum up this theoretical knowledge to enrich color theory, and explore the modern watercolor to promote the development of watercolor painting. |
