Nowadays, there exist two different tendencies on teaching grammar of TCSL (Teaching Chinese as a Second Language) in the modern Chinese applied linguistics academic circle. One is the specifying study of teaching grammar, featured with research of modern Chinese empty words and sentence patterns, which has been fruitful for over twenty years; the other is the simplifying research of teaching grammar, which has been rarely discussed recently.Taking Chinese passive voice sentence in TCSL as the object of study, this thesis analyzes the main problems caused by overseas students in their acquisition of Chinese passive voice sentence on the basis of some surveys, works out the possible reasons of these problems with discussing the teaching material, teaching and test outline and other objective factors in language teaching, and discusses the simplifying of Chinese passive voice sentence in teaching grammar in view of the characters of Chinese language as well. Consequently, two aspects of research importance have been developed, one is the importance and necessity of improving grammar teaching on Chinese passive voice sentence; and the other is the bold discussion of and possible way to the simplifying research of the entire teaching grammar in TCSL.Including the questionnaire and spoken Chinese survey, the surveys adopted in this thesis analyze the data of language materials by applying database techniques and error-analyzing theory. And the research of the surveys in this thesis shows the main errors caused by overseas students in their Chinese passive voice sentence acquisition are confusing of the doer and the receiver of an action, error of adverbial modifier, error of complement modifier and error of the symbol word of Chinese passive voice sentence, etc. In addition, it has been exposed that some testers have difficulty in choosing right sentence patterns of passive voice. Through the analysis, the possible reasons causing the above errors result in the lack of systematization of Chinese passive voice sentence in TCSL.In the conclusion, based on the characters of Chinese language, this thesis gives some proposals to simplifying research of Chinese passive voice sentence teaching. The author contends that Chinese bei-construction should be the main parts of Chinese passive voice, and the non-symbol passive voice sentence could be regarded as a special form of bei-construction. Moreover, the teaching may initially starts with the basic bei-construction pattern Np1+bei (jiao/rang/gei)+ (Np2)+V+ (complement modifier) first, and the complete bei-construction pattern Np1+adverbial modifier A+bei (jiao/rang/gei) +Np2+ adverbial modifier B+V+complement modifier next. Afterwards, by omitting some parts of the complete pattern, the variant sentence pattern of Chinese passive voice sentence may be introduced in teaching. Thereby, the systematization of Chinese passive voice sentence patterns teaching may be reinforced by applying the complete bei-construction pattern.
