Jin opera is a typical art form of Shanxi province, which conbinates with Pu opera, North opera and Shangdang opera known as Shanxi four Opera. Jin opera based on Pu opera and conbinated with Qixian, Taiyuan, Fenyang and Xiaoyi Yangge, has formed into a local opera gradually. Jin opera is composed by aria, names of opera and percussion. Jin Opera Percussion also known as Wuchang, is an important component of the music. It is a special music and it has played a very key role in inheritance and development of Jin opera art. Jin opera has not only formed a unique playing style, but also has been an important element of Non-material cultural heritage in China.I have been to several Jin opera theaters of shanxi province to do researching and collece relative literature about Jin opera percussion instruments and scores during May 2007 to February 2008. I also have read essays from relative magazines about Jin opera percussion and interviewed offsprings of Jin opera in Shanxi Jin opera theater, Taiyuan Jin opera theater, Datong jin opera theater and so on. This paper aims at reseaching, finishing and studying the origin, inheritance of Jin opera music, playing methods of Jin opera percussion instruments, and drums gongs. Through analysising and studying the functions and aesthetic characteristics of Jin opera Percussion with musicology and Sound Science mothods, I think that Jin Opera with variety rhythm and abundant acoustics of sevaral instruments, powers and speeds can cooperate actors' motion and aria to show personalities of the heroes and relative backgrounds. On this point, we can see the the key role of Jin percussion in Jin opera music and its special art attraction. My purpose to do this reseaching is probing into the characters and rules of Jin opera percussion and handling the problem of inheritance and developememt, then finding the problems and coming up with the solutions.Based on them I have found three problems in Jinju Percussion :Unreasonable arrangenment of executants.Excessive volume and not very good timbre. Scores of jin opera stick to fixed rules, lacking of times character.In oder to solve those problems, first of all, we should promote "E-Kum", reduce staff, and develope a variety sounds of "E-Kum". Second, we should try to create new types instruments, and make sure the main instrument can play accurate fixed pitch, increasing good music, decreasing noise, so that leading a new brand market-instrument combinations. In addition, it is necessary to train Jin opera music talents vigorously, and to make scores of Jin opera percussion as a part of music design. In my opinion: theory should be with practice and be conbine with Iin opera String Orchestra, based on protecting and inheriting the tradition to reform and innovate thoroughly .Only if we do like this ,can we make Jin Opeta Percussion this ancient music be full of youth of art.
