| Zhang Henshui is a special and perplexing writer in Chinese modern literature history. His selective hover between tradition and modernity, elegance and secularity plays an important role in the study of modern fictions, especially of light fictions. The study of his writing will become the probing into cultural phenomena. As a master of light literature, Zhang Henshui's social love novels have great influence on the later light literature either on contents or forms. Therefore, his love novels have importance which can not be ignored in Chinese modern literature history. This thesis goes from the main plots of Zhang Henshui's love novels and makes his love novels as models. It explains native patterns and characteristics of narrative art in three different stories, and the important contribution of his love novels.
