Are there any shortcomings of these dictionaries?Second, what are the reasons of these current problems?Third, what measures may the dictionary compliers take to cope with these current problems?By comparing and analyzing the different translations in different dictionaries, a table of methods adopted by different dictionaries has been shown. Common problems, such as lack of consistent translation principles, mismatch of the order of translation and the order of example, misuse of English idioms, negligence the change of meaning, improper treatment of etymological information, have been discussed in this study. Some reason have been proposed and analyzed. Some strategies, for example, more emphasis on translation principle, division of the translation of idioms, tagging the parts of speech, using uniform etymological note, have been put forward in this study.
