| This paper attempts to inspect the narrative features of Hai School literatures from the cultural contest of Shanghai in 1930s. The formation of Hai School fictions'unique style is not only the production of Shanghai's urban culture, but also the result of the "May 4th Literary Revolution"in line with the scientific awareness penetration. These two points, on the one hand, provided a sophisticated narrative"material"feature to the Hai School literatures; on the other hand, prompted to form Hai School literatures'unique observed gesture, discourse and the view of time and space. This paper will base on the"material"features and to have a deep research in the Hai School literatures in 1930s. Material structure and spiritual infiltration will be considered to analysis this problem. And then, a further analysis of narrative effect caused by the narrative feature will be discussed.When material structure is concerned, imaginary landscape of the city has provided evidence for the writers to create figures and circumstances, such as stress line, perspective of modern architecture, which directly affected the aesthetic trends and new concept of love. Furthermore, the "street" which as the roaming space of city directly affected the sophisticated narrative content and mode, and even made their works get a certain quality of showcase. When the spiritual penetration is concerned, we found that the impact of science had become an intensive gesture of their narration, and made them not only"modern", but also"nature". When the"material"became an inevitable presence posture, it was bound to be accompanied with the machinery of the industrial and the alienation of this proposition, involving the writers of the 1930s` aesthetic modernity. It can be said that the material state in the presentation of the texts was different from the previous reading experience, simultaneously extended the multiple narrative forms, and enriched the novel dimension and the connotation.consequently, based on the"material"feature and interpreted the 1930s novels in the meaning of narrative,must be a unique taste of perspective to study how such depiction establishing their significance / notation system and to participate into creating modern Chinese narration and construction in their own way. |
