The 21st century is an era of exchanging and cooperation. As one of the most necessary means and tools of international communication, English has become the basic requirements in the developing modern times. However, in China today's Higher Education Systerm, especially the poly techniq colleges, College English teaching has its defect, which is "more time-consuming, and less post-harvest" in the present system. From the result of analyzing the questionaires of some vocational students, we can find out the causes of main drawback of the College Eglish Teaching today. First, College Eglish Teaching is lacking of the students learning autonomy; and secondly, English Teaching is not as closed as neccesary to the professional practice; and last, the learning space of College English is too narrow to learn more information. Actually, we can see now the College English Teaching reaction cannot reach of the teaching goal, and has been unable to meet the requirements of the needs of society.With the rapid development of the science and technology changes today. Education increasingly concerned about the practical ability of students and start to work on enhancing the life-long learning ability of the students. In this background, Project-learning came into being. As a research study under the guidance of teachers, in Project-learning system, students can take the initiative to explore the learning activities, with an open, independent and practical features, better able to make up for the deficiencies of our educational system. Applications of the Project-learning since 2001 for the first time has now turned out to be a good results in the field of basic education. And in recent years, studies have shown that there is a special significance of Project-learning to the China's higher education reform.This paper, which basic on the reform of higher education and the new situation, in order to study the theory of Project-learning which will be a right medicine to the shortcomings of today's College English Teaching. The features of Project-learning set out an open, independent and practical situation to meet the drawbacks of English Teaching. And the comparisons of Project-learning practicing before and after in College English Teaching shows that Project-learning had played an advantages role, and hoping to find a better way to combined College English Teaching and Project-learning together.This article is divided into four major parts, the first part is a brief Introduction on putting forward of the problem, research ideas and methods as well as related concepts such as elaborate explanation; the second part is about the collected materials which related to the paper, and introducing the study of Ideas and the characteristics of Project-learning, and also show the current research on the College English teaching in vocational colleges. In the third part, the writer has designed a questionnaires and to carry out a random questionnaires among 128 higher vocational colleges students in the Guangxi region. The contents of the questionnaires is to discuss the "Inefficient and time-consuming" status of College English Teaching, from the three main concept such as the students' interests in learning, English, the learning methods and the results of the English teaching. The fourth part is a survey analysis of the third parts, which resulted in the "time-consuming and inefficient" status of College English Teaching. The main reasons of the shortcomings are mainly due to "the narrow study space, and lacking of professional practice and students autonomy. In part five, in the introduction of an open, independent and practical features of Project-learning, the writer promote a research study carried out in practice, from the concepts such as the necessity and feasibility of the implementation, the objectives and significance of the implementation, the principles, forms of organization, and the specific implementation methods. Part six is a contrast analysis of the results that before and after the Project-learning practice in College English Teaching. At last came to a conclusion that the Project-learning practice in College English Teaching can improve the effectiveness of College English Teaching: First of all, Project-learning practice has changed traditional teaching methods, and increased the student interest in learning English. Second, a new way for students to learn about the vast space for English learning, students learn to develop the habit of cooperative learning. Third, the students' scores and achievements in English learning are generally improved.In practice, of course, I also found some problems existing in the public practice of English study in some higher vocational colleges, However, in the public practice of English teaching of some higher vocational colleges, we carry the research study is not only able to develop students' thirst for knowledge, stimulate students to improve the initiative and creativity of study, enlarge their eyes and learning space and improve the effectiveness of teaching English in public, but also inspire better development of education and promote the advancement of education for productive forces. As a result, the combination of research-based learning and teaching English in public is a trend of science development, and is also an irresistible trend.
