It's obviously important for all of us to learn English, because English is used the most widely in the world, and also a bridge connecting China to other countries. However, there are many disabilities for Chinese students, especially higher vocational college students in English learning even though they have learned it for many years.By means of a questionnaire about English learning for higher vocational college students, interview with higher vocational college students and observation of other teachers' classes, some disabilities are found. They include that higher vocational college students are difficult to insist on English learning, and higher vocational college students lack external support. The factors to influence students' learning are internal factors including poor English basis, poor psychological quality and improper learning methods, as well as external factors including school, family, teacher and curriculum.Based on analyzing the disabilities and influencing factors, some countermeasures are put forward. First, we should guide higher vocational college students to recognize the important role of English learning, including good learning motivation, correct learning attitude, good self-confidence, good learning interest, good willpower and noble emotion. Second, we should create good external learning environment, including strengthening school environment construction, giving teachers' role of guidance and arranging more after-class practice.
