This thesis focuses on the analysis of vocabulary learning strategies adopted by the Tourist English majors in Qinghe Vocational and Technical College, Beijing Jiaotong University, and the relations between vocabulary learning strategies and vocabulary errors, which are collected from the final examination papers of English Writing as a reflection of the perfection or deficiency of the learners' vocabulary knowledge. The vocabulary learning strategies adopted are investigated with questionnaires and calculated with Excel 2003.In order to find out the relations between vocabulary learning strategies and vocabulary errors, or the perfection of vocabulary knowledge, comparison and contrast are adopted in the analysis. The students are divided into two groups for contrast. Three steps are included in the revelation of the relations between vocabulary knowledge and learning strategies: 1) Are there any differences in vocabulary learning strategies adopted by Group One and Group Two? Vocabulary learning strategies will be categorized according to the existing categories. However, influences of strategies on the correctness of vocabulary information intake have almost been totally ignored in early researches on learning strategies, so this problem will be analyzed in details in this thesis. 2) Are there any differences in types and amount of vocabulary errors between Group One and Group Two? 3) Are there any relations between vocabulary learning strategies and vocabulary errors? Through the exploration of the three questions, the hypothesis put forward in Introduction will be tested; that is, the use of vocabulary learning strategies has direct relations with the perfection of vocabulary knowledge.Vocabulary learning is complicated psychological, linguistic processes of information, while Learning strategies are only one aspect in this course. However, by revealing the relations between vocabulary learning strategies and vocabulary errors, or vocabulary knowledge, the interaction between teachers and students and the proficiency of vocabulary teaching will be promoted.
