Affective factors play a significant role in language teaching and learning.However, English teachers attach too much importance to cognitive side of language learning,thus neglecting the function of affective factors.Given this kind of teaching situation,the paper states the importance of the affective domain by dealing with personality factors.Such affective factors as anxiety,inhibition,motivation,self-esteem,etc.are illustrated and circumstantiated. Moreover,some practical suggestions are offered to encourage humanistic education and cooperative language learning.Besides,affective strategies are put forward on this basis.Some relevant problems are exposed in English teaching with some questionnaires.A detailed analysis is given in the following experiment about the function of affective factors on language learning.An effective experiment displays the advantages of focusing on students' affective factors.It turns out that taking students' affective factors into account in language teaching can not only promote students' cognitive development,potential exploration,moral cultivation but also benefit students' development of socialization. Therefore,paying attention to affective education and adopting affective strategies in English teaching have a profound significance. |
