When the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood began in mid nineteenth century at England, they were greatly influenced by English literature. Many Pre-Raphaelite artists made The Lady of Shallot, which made by Britain Poet Laureate: Alfred Tennyson, as their subject. The author use method of Form Analyze to study such subject by William Holman Hunt, Dante Gabriel Rossetti and Sidney Harold Meteyard. In their depictions of the Lady of Shalott, Pre-Raphaelite artists illustrated the role and conditions of women in their contemporary culture.The individual artists' decision to depict specific narrative moments within the poem suggests their differing interpretations of the status of women. As women became the saviors of the increasingly important domestic realm, paintings such as The Lady of Shalott illustrate the tension between their private desires and the reality of their social responsibilities. Pre-Raphaelite artists use this subject to intervene social life, and point out their attitudes toward domestic life and woman in Victorian society.
