The English teaching of senior high school should stress "student-centered" belief, fully consider students' true need, recognize students' individual character on study and train students' autonomous learning ability. However, the English teaching in rural senior high schools still generally adopts "teacher-centered" with "inculcation" type of teaching mode at present, the teaching result is not fully up to expectations, especially the teaching of English reading is time-consuming and not effective enough. Students have insufficient understanding of the importance of reading, lack of interests, and they spend little time in reading, at the same time their reading amount is obviously insufficient. As a result of these, they are lack of study distinction and creativity. Therefore, teachers should follow the teaching environment they are in, they should draw lessons from the research both home and abroad about autonomous learning of foreign languages, keep the thought of "student-centered" in their mind, and lead the autonomous learning into the teaching of English reading, in order to fully foster the student's strong interests, and correctly lead students to choose the reading material independently to expand their range of reading. By forming students' good reading habit, teachers can help them to grasp the skill of reading progressively, and raise their language analyzing and comprehending and judging ability, thus strengthen the students' autonomously reading ability and improve their English level in an all-round way.
