In English as a Foreign Language classrooms,teacher talk helps teachers to implement their teaching plans,transmit information and arrange a series of teaching activities.It is also the language input students need to receive and imitate.So,both the quantity and the quality of teacher talk are very important,even decisive,in classroom teachings.Student teachers(English majors) are a special group of English users.In their third or fourth year of English studies in universities,they are both advanced English learners and novice English teachers in middle schools.What are the features of their teacher talk in middle school English classrooms? This study presents an analysis of English classroom discourse of four student teachers from Jining University based on recordings of four English classes.The purpose of this study is to evaluate and develop student teachers' oral English proficiency and teaching abilities and to promote their reflection-driven professional development.Last,it gives some suggestions on lessons of English teaching methods.
