The Study On The Historical Stage And Leitmotif Of American Sports Film

Sports film major narrative with athlete or events,and reflect social life and a ideological tendencies as a media of sports.Because of its unique style and leitmotif,American sports film has important significance to be analyzed.Based on the method of historical research, this article make a division of its history to 5 stages,analyzed and summarized each stage about the leitmotif,sports and types.On this paper also with a cultural and sociological theories,have made a contrastive analysis about the leitmotif and the way to express it of each stage with two latitude:race and stratum,gender.As days past,American sports film focus on some major events,and other events growing;Female caracters make more sence,from the only one to be loved changed to be companed with a a major athlete;Drama is the main type all the time,and other types grow up and develop;The style of these films from entertainment to Realism,Noir,and turn back to entertainment and Commercialization again;For the leitmotif,American sports films make a view about Amrecian sports,at the same time, Hollywood-based production continually express middle-class white American male values,with a nostalgia or realistic way,make a story with individualism and American Dream which affirmed the whites male privilege.As days past,unwhite and women increasely be on screen as a main character,especially in the stage 2and 3,but race,gender expression is often in order to hide the other social contradictions system.So the spread of this ideological hegemony hided and resist of class identity and social injustice.But because of its utopian way of expression reflects social reality in some degree also,and caused people's concern and consideration.In order to narrow the social gap of people,we must avoid this disadvantage,but its art styles and technology advantages is what we should learn.
