The Development Of Reality In Documentary Based On The Development Of Fictitiousness

In the developement history of movie and television, the growth of documentary experienced the process of virtualization, non-virtualization, and virtualization again. After the publishing of Nanook of the North by Robert Flaherty, documentary based more on actural events. Grierson made a classic definition of documentay, "make a creative treatment of reality". This definition proved the combination of reality and virtualization in documentary and the necessariness of virtualization. At present, with the rapid development of digital technology, various digital special effects such as CG, 3D animation, are applied to the creation of documentary. These technics greatly enriched expressing methods in documentay. Documentary nowadays is marching towards multi-diversity.By producing method of reality and virtualization, the documentary image system can be divided into a real image system and a virtualized image system. The development of virtualized producing method in documentary is enhancing the importance of virtualized image. The entire 100 years developing history of documentary witnessed the groth of virtualization from simple Recurrent Scene, Reconstruction to all-digital produced computer graphics and special effects. Under the influence of the faith that "The reality is the life of documentary", the existence and development of virtualized image made a significant effect on the concept of reality in documentary. Disagreement in "reenact" still exist in academic circle. The documentaries containing digital virtualized image are being questioned to be real documentary. But on the contrary, the virturalized image existing in documentary is questioning the nature of documentary. The reflection on documentary reality is urgent and unaviodable.An overall study and explaination is given in this paper on how vitualized image developed and how the concept of reality changed in documentay.
