Female Characters In Jia-Zhangke's Films

As the representative of'the Sixth-Generation Directors' in China,Jia-Zhangke's films have become an important part of Chinese film art and even also have become an important part of the World film art.His films described the ordinary people's living state,fate and the changes of their spirit in the historical process of China's modernization,especially after reforming and opening.In this paper,we will comprehensively use feminist film theory,sociology,psychoanalysis,and cultural studies to investigate these female characters in Jia-Zhangke's films.First,we expound the features of'the Sixth-Generation Directors' whose representative is Jia-Zhangke and emphasize that these female characters' are under the background of contemporary Chinese experience.Then,we analyze these female characters' self-consciousness and their mirror image in the other's eye.Finally,we probe into these female characters' interior heterogeneity from the angle of time and space. Female characters of different times have historical difference and these female characters living in the same times have difference of social stratum embodying in social spaces.Through studying and analyzing these female characters who are under the background of contemporary Chinese experience in Jia-Zhangke's films,we strive to analyze these female characters'life state,living path and their spiritual changes.
