Though Jules-Verne and H.G. Wells have different degree of thinking in their works, their works both have a gleam of humanity. They both made a big contribution to the development of human's thoughts and the development of our society. They are connecting links between the preceding and the following in Sci-fiction literature, and they are two milestones in the history of Sci-fiction. However, people don't give the right position they deserve in the history of literature. This thesis based on the analysis of Verne and Wells' works, from social thinking, values, artistic skills, science the two writer received, philosophical thought, the shock between science and religious thoughts their works contain, we can find out their precious thoughts, they gave science fiction a strong influence. All of these show their great literary contribution to the development of literature.This thesis consists of six parts. Chapter one, the introduction mainly introduces the development of science fiction literature, research situation and the situation of Verne and Wells' works. Literature field always doesn't admit science fiction's status, but science fiction was not born like this. Verne and Wells' works can be regarded as classic literature in the literature world. So this chapter bring out the concept that this two writers are two milestones in the development of science fiction, attempt to recover the two writers to get their right place in the literary history in the following analysis.Chapter two analyses the differences of two writers' works between hard SF and soft SF, Verne and Wells' artistic skills and the "optimism and pessimism" in order to know the basic differences between the two writers, they belong to different schools, but their division is relative, not absolute.Chapter three mainly analyses the two writers' works from their concept of space and time. They have their own emphasis on the Concept of Time and Space, but they both opened up a new world for the traditional literature, so that made people jump out of the original restrictions on Space and Time, gave them a new concept.Chapter four focuses on their works in the reflection of reality and fantasy in the future. Although they wrote science fiction, they never gave up the responsibility of reality, their works based on a realistic basis and have prospects for the future.Chapter five mainly introduces their science fictions' influences on future generations. As two different schools in SF, they gave different aspects of incentives and guidelines to the future generations. They also gave science art such as science films a big influence. They gave the world both material wealth and technology wealth.Chapter six the conclusion sums up the whole thesis. After analysis and comparison, we can go closer to the two masters, more clearly aware of their style of work and their undeniable classic.
