The requirement upon listening skill has always been a crucial part of English acquisition. In recent years, the general outline of English teaching from the Department of Education of China and many national examinations have all highlighted the listening skill of English. Then, how to promote the efficiency and effect of teaching practice in college English listening course, how to stimulate an all-round promotion of listening skill in English rises as a challenging task. In a review of the teaching approaches interiorly and abroad, we meet different kinds: there are the types that neglect the element of listening( Grammar-Translation Method and Reading Approach); also the types of listening-only focus(Direct Method and the Audio-Lingual Method); and the Cognitive Approach which emphasizes on the active participation of the students. Yet there is not a unversally-applicable one for the college English listening course in China. Professor Yin Demo provides a new Bilingual Double Structures Theory, when jointed with the theory of Metacognitive Stategies Theory, help to comprehend the exhisting problems in listening practice and to make a more effective course design for the solution of the problems. In these applications, the new theory displays its unique and meanful character for the exploration for a suitable method in listening process.In this paper, the theorical origination comes from Metacognitive Strategy Theory together with the Bilingual Double Structure Theory. And it makes an exploration of the appropriate education method of college English listening course. The whole paper includes six chapters: Chapter One is the introduction part. In this section, the background of the paper has been presented, followed with some exhisting problems in the classroom practice; Chapter Two makes a brief introduction about the popular teaching approaches for foreign language education. After the comparison, the paper proceeds to the positive influence of Cognitive Approach; Chapter Three focuses on Metacognitive Strategies Theory: about the definition, features and the useful guidance for teaching practice; Chapter Four makes in reference to the Bilingual Double Structures Theory. The contents here conerns the foundmental principles of this theory, the analysis of the emergence of those problems in teaching practice, and the solutions to them; Chapter Five mainly presents an experiment. The designing of this experiment is under the guidance of the Bilingual Double Structures Theory together with the Metacognitive Strategies Theory. Here the author has collected the final data for the tests during the experiment and made analysis on them. Then the weak points of the experiment have been discussed; Chapter Six is the conclusion part. This section summerizes the whole paper, and points out: Metacognitive Strategy Theory together with the Bilingual Double Structure Theory has positive affect on the college English listening course. Its values also exhibit in providing reference for the research on the promotion and enhancement of the quality of the college English listening course.
