Though not favored by Oscar,Michael Bay still remains the masterful director to be reckoned with,especially those spectacular phenomena in his movies which deserve further study.Under the digital Hollywood,this paper sets out to analyze and summarize the most common spectacular types in his works.Then,it analyzes the reasons of presenting those spectacular images.The entertaining characteristics of consumption society are of course an important factor in presenting those spectacular scenes.However,compared with other art films,it is most typical of the nature of technology.It is technology that creates and develops movies.It is also technological advancement that shaped the spectacular scenes in the movies.Spectacular scenes have expanded a new esthetic area and brought us a brand-new visual enjoyment.The way of esthetics in movies has changed accordingly.
