The Embodiment Of Translation Ethics In C-E Translation Of Classical Literature

Impelling the east and the west to communicate,the globalisation of different cultures is based on the values,morals and ethics.The phenomenon of "Eurocentrism" in the translation reveals in the problem of power imbalance among different languages,which has never been given due attention in translation.Under such circumstances,we need ethics,as our guidance,to deal with the "violence" in the translation.Based on the theory of translation ethics,a new orientation of the translation research,the author evaluates the findings and limitations of previous studies on translation ethics.Since there are differences of culture,ideology and ethics,the circumstance prevents the translation researchers from giving judgements of the ethics of translation.Andrew Chesterman puts forward four models:ethics of representation, ethics of services,ethics of communication and norm-based ethics.Because the translation ethics,typical in China,is still in its infancy,few people apply it to the research in the translation edition of classic literature.This thesis shows some Chinese political and ethical features in the translation of classical literature.By analysing chosen examples in the novel of A Dream of Red Mansions,the thesis demonstrates that the four models given by Chesterman are suitable for regulating the translation practice,what's more,the thought of loyalty to the clients in the ethics of service is fit for the ideology with Chinese characteristics represented in the translation which has strong influence on the Chinese translators.
