The research of the relationship between Gandhi and the Partition of India and Pakistan can not only help us to better understand the thoughts of Gandhi, but also enable us to better understanding of the status of Gandhi in the Indian national movement. This article is divided into four parts.The first part firstly analyzed the contradiction between Hindus and Muslims , followed by a further analysis of the Indian national movement and the co-operation between the Congress Party and Muslim at the early twentieth century, analysis of the specificity and temporary of the cooperation of the Congress and Muslim .The second part firstly analyzed the plight of the Indian national movement. Then,this part introduced Gandhi's strategy of national movement ,and analyzed the status of Gandhi in the history of national movement.The third part mainly introduced Gandhi's effort to avoid the Partition of India and Pakistan at different stages of national movement.The last part is the summary of the above-mentioned part. Gandhi should not be responsible for the Partition of India and Pakistan.
