In today's society the most important trend is the increasing international exchange activities which will be inevitable in this relates to cross-cultural communication. It is clear that it has become an indispensable part of people's lives. Languages in different countries can be successfully carried out due to the great significance of translation as an important cross-cultural communication bridge. It is an important responsibility and duty for translators to let their domestic culture to be known and accepted around the world.Literature is an important manifestation of culture, which is rich in cultural factors. That is why the translation of literary works is also regarded as decoding and encoding of culture, which is a major translation problem and point. The success of a literary translation depends not only on whether it is meant to express clearly, but also on the transmission of its cultural spirit. Drama is an important form of literaturewith its rich content involving all aspects of human culture of all levels. It is not only a performing arts, but also an important literature. It does not only include the characteristics of a discussion, a fiction, a poetry and other genres, but also has a unique form of language. A good script can not only enrich the lives and entertain the folks, but also spread different cultures and customs, and here we have also experienced a dramatic rise of the current, which, compared with the other printed literary works , better serve the public. Therefore, it is worthy for the translator to explore how to remove the barriers between two cultures, to further embody the charm of the drama and fully express the culture and the spirit of the original.Of all Lao She's literary works, Teahouse marks the peak in his later years. Through depiction of characters in and out of the teahouse and through tracing its decline, this play reflects the social changes within the 50 years: from the end of the Qing Dynasty to the founding of new China. From the perspective of culture, this play does not just relate to the founding of new China. From the perspective of culture, this play does not just relate to what is on the stage, the local color of the time and locale is of great importance in making up the culture. Since its first performance on stage, Teahouse has won applause from audiences at home and abroad. In 1980, when performed abroad, this play made such a great hit and gained the reputation of being a "miracle on the oriental stage." Without an excellent script of translation, such success could not have been seen. Not only does the translation let the foreign audience understand Chinese abundant culture, it has also provided them with a look of the height China's drama has achieved. This thesis begins with intercultural factors, combining the relevance theory with the presence of the cultural elements in the play, then analyze existing two English versions of this play so as to achieve a better understanding of drama translation.
