As a kind of art form, the comic sketch is favored by masses. However, compared with the hot stage, the study of humorous utterance in comedic skits seems inadequate. This paper attempts to use some important theories in pragmatics and text linguists to analyze the conversation in comic sketch and explore its formation mechanism and strategy.There are five chapters in the essay. The first chapter is introduction, which gives a general account of the study on comedic skits and introduces the meaning of the study as well as the framework of the essay. The fifth chapter is conclusion that touches upon the problems and innovations in the essay. Chapter two, three and four constitute the main body of the essay.The second chapter explores the pragmatic mechanism of the humorous utterances in comic sketch by examining the form and content in them with large numbers of lively examples. The study takes some basic pragmatic contents, such as Grice's cooperative principle, Leech and Levinson's politeness, deixis,context and presupposition to elaborate the pragmatic mechanism.The third chapter is the study of humorous utterances in comic sketch based on discourse analysis. Cohesion and coherence, discourse strategies are used to explain the realization of humor in comic skits, among which sudden transition and intention misunderstanding are paid more attention. It is the first of its kind to apply pragmatic and discourse linguistic theories in the study of humorous utterance in comedic skits.The fourth chapter researches humor appreciation and acceptance. The humor of comedic skits comes true during the actors or actresses intercommunication with audience. Factors relevant to the listener's culture, region, and humor competence are studied as well, for the reason that these factors may be directly related to the success or failure of humor. The current research analyzes the acceptance and application of humorous utterance, explore the relations between the information volume of comedic skits and dialect, and study the individual factors of listeners.
