Compared with the Leftist literature periodicals which emerged in an endless stream at ShangHai in the 1930s,it has special meanings that The Grass Grown In Desert Weekly emerged at Peking. This article will try to discover the characteristics which belong to The Grass Grown In Desert Weekly, and the history of literature significance that The Weekly shows us,from the history and culture circumstances,the writers'mind and experience,and The Weekly's literature practice.The Grass Grown In Desert Weekly is another comprehensive literature periodical which published prose creation primarily after Yu Si in the history of the Chinese modern literature.The birth of The Grass Grown In Desert Weekly and the establishment of it's standpoint was influenced by many factors:Peking's rich collection in tradition,the special desert-like environment in culture in 1930s,and the stimulation by the rise of Revolutionary literature.The birth of The Grass Grown In Desert Weekly symbolized the first appearance of the literature group that had formed around Zhou Zuoren after 1926. Compared with Revolutionary literature,they showed a tendency of liberalism literature obviously:opposed treating the literature as a tool of political propaganda,believed in that literature expresses individual emotions,tried to emphasize the pure literature,and support the theory with their creation practice.The essays created by Zhou Zuoren,Liang Yuchun,the novels created by FeiMing,and the articles created by Xu Zuzheng,all of which expressed their views on literature obviously.The literature creations by The Grass Grown In Desert Weekly showed a tendancy of turning to pesonal emotions,and expressed the dream about literature and culture which surpasses the world of mortals by their creations. The Grass Grown In Desert Weekly led the ideological trend of liberalism literature in the history of the Chinese modern literature,which is the necessary reflection when literature was interfered with by politics during the course of Chiese mordern history.
